Overview For Upgrade Mysql_55 To Mysql_56

I like show a fast guideline of upgrade a Mysql, in my case a little Mysql (some Gigas);
Stop the mysql service

service mysql stop

Make a copy of old binaries

mv /var/lib/mysql/ /var/lib/mysql_55

Check packages installed with rpm utility;

rpm -qa | grep -i mysql check if package exits

After that remove this packages

yum remove MySQL-server-5.5.30-1.el6.x86_64 MySQL-shared-5.5.30-1.el6.x86_64 MySQL-client-5.5.30-1.el6.x86_64

Install new rpms

rpm -ivh MySQL-shared-5.6.10-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
rpm -ivh MySQL-client-5.6.10-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
rpm -ivh MySQL-server-5.6.10-1.el6.x86_64.rpm

Upgrade, validate, modify if necessary and check objects;

mysql_upgrade -hopensourcedbms -uroot -p

As you see if there are not problems it is easy and fast, remember some Gigas for this database.
