What Is mysqld_safe

MySQL Server Startup Script. mysqld_safe is the recommended way to start a mysqld server on Unix. Mysqld_safe is a kind of clusterware, or policy manager processes is a latent or daemon process that is responsible for monitoring that the Mysql server is up and available, and if events, such as for example the fall of mysql try to start again.
Some of the tasks performed;

  • Runs a numeber of system and option checks
  • Starts mysqld, monitors it, and restarts if it terminates in error
  • Sends error messages to host_name.err
