How To Configure VI To Edit CRONTAB

Often we need to modify the crontab file, if you have configured. Normally two editors are used to modify the Unix crontab, the sed or the famous vi. I personally like more the vi, to set vi as the default editor is in Unix (Solaris) we must execute the following commands;

$ EDITOR = vi
$ Export EDITOR

To enter edit the crontab  run;

crontab -e

To list the contents of the crontab we can run;

crontab -l

Include DB_FILES Parameter The Tempfiles?

Today a doubt about the DB_FILES parameter has emerged, it is clear that includes the datafiles, but the question was whether it included temporary files.

You can see the DB_FILES parameter from the command sqlplus

show parameter DB_FILES

To find the number of current data files you can run the following query;

SELECT COUNT (*) FROM DBA_DATA_FILES;

To find the number of temporary files you can run the following query;

SELECT COUNT (*) FROM DBA_TEMP_FILES;

DB_FILES parameter NOT include the temporary files.

How To Know If The Machine Is 32 Or 64 On 2012R2

Many times, we need to know if machine where we are working is 64 bits or 32 bits, of course, 32 bits is hardly to find but there a lots of them yet. Maybe the more easy way, with Windows 2012 R2 , is click in Control Panel, select System and Security, and choose System, you see a window like the screenshot below. You must look at “System type” information tag.

SQL Developer Hangs at “Windows are restored”

This morning when I ran the SQL Developer, this will not finish start, and stays in the next screen (the language is set to Spanish);

sqldeveloper_no_arranca_2
After fifteen minutes, has given me to investigate, looking on google I have seen that there may be a problem with the configuration and in many forums it is recommended to delete the directory system4.1.1.xxxx.. In my case it is in the C:\Users\anavarror\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer folder (I use windows 7).

sqldeveloper_no_arranca
When you run SQL Developer again tells us if we want to load the old setup, in my case I had the previous version of SQL Developer. Here after several attempts I said no, if I say yes, the second time you restart the SQL Developer it hanged on “Windows are restored” again.

Select NO, of course, you can loose your previous configuration;
