The backup team sent me the following error when they run an archive backup.
RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS =============== RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-03002: failure of backup command at 10/29/2015 12:18:45 RMAN-06059: expected archived log not found, lost of archived log compromises recoverability ORA-19625: error identifying file $1$dtb277:[000000.][faxes]log_faxes_1_12376_677956094.arc ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status HP IPF VMS Error: 16: mount device busy
The problem is that this particular file is on a disk that has had to be removed due to an error. The issue is that you can not mount the drive because its name is being used by another disk. System team using their magic, manages to move the file to another disk, while not presenting the disk to the rest of user into the system. Once the file is in another location, and using RMAN catalog it is as easy as follows. First we connect to the database backup and catalog;
RMAN> catalog archivelog '$1$dtb277:[000000.][faxes]log_faxes_1_12376_677956094.arc'; cataloged archive log archive log filename=$1$dtb277:[000000.][faxes]log_faxes_1_12376_677956094.arc recid=12383 stamp=894372030
