Other Way To See Compatible Parameter

Many times we have people or processes that need to see the compatible parameter database (also applies to the version). this involves giving access to v $ parameter or permits high level, although there are tricks to see a less ofical form. An easier way even more complex is the DBMS_UTILITY package, but you also have to give explicit permission to the user / process.

SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
DECLARE
 myversion     VARCHAR2(30);
 compatibility VARCHAR2(30);
BEGIN
  dbms_utility.db_version(myversion, compatability);
  dbms_output.put_line('Version: ' || myversion ||' compatible: ' || compatibility);
END;
